Self-Denial

When Jesus called His followers to “take up your cross,” they knew it meant walking the road to death. In Mark 8:34–35, He reveals the paradox of discipleship: clinging to your life will cause you to lose it, but losing your life for Him and the gospel will lead you to find it. This is the doorway to resurrection life, through surrender, not self-preservation.
