The God Who Pleads Our Case

Scripture

“Therefore thus says the Lord: ‘Behold, I will plead your case and take vengeance for you.’” (Jeremiah 51:36a)

Devotional

Israel was surrounded by injustice, weary from oppression, and facing the heavy hand of Babylon. Yet even in their distress, God declared His commitment to act on their behalf: “I will plead your case.” What comfort to know that the Lord Himself steps in as both Advocate and Judge—defending His people and righting what has been wronged.

When God pleads your case, you can rest your heart. You don’t have to strive to prove your innocence, win every argument, or seek revenge for every wrong. The Lord sees what others overlook. He hears what others dismiss. And in His perfect time, He will make all things right.

God’s vengeance is not rooted in anger, but in justice. It is His holy response to evil, not ours. While the world demands its own justice, God invites His children to trust in His. Waiting for divine vindication requires humility and faith—but it also brings peace. When we release our case into His hands, we no longer carry the burden of bitterness or the weight of self-defense.

The God who pleads for us does not forget us. Whether you’ve been misunderstood, mistreated, or wounded by injustice, remember this: the Lord is not silent. He is your Defender, your Advocate, and your Righteous Judge.

Takeaway & Reflection

The God who defends His people can be trusted to make all things right.

  • God pleads our case when words fail us.
  • His justice is perfect; His timing is sure.
  • Peace comes when we surrender our defense to His hands.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for being my Defender and Advocate. When I am wronged or misunderstood, remind me that You see and You care. Help me to rest in Your justice and wait on Your timing. I trust You to plead my case and to make all things right in Your perfect way.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
