Scripture
“Cast your bread upon the waters, for you will find it after many days.” (Ecclesiastes 11:1, NKJV)
Devotional
There are seasons when obedience feels invisible.
You give, you serve, you pray, you step out in faith, and nothing seems to come of it. No immediate fruit. No clear return. Just silence.
Solomon speaks into that tension with a picture: “Cast your bread upon the waters…”
To the natural eye, that looks like loss. Bread thrown into water does not appear recoverable. It disappears. It feels wasted.
But God sees differently.
What looks like loss to us may actually be seed in the ground. What seems gone may simply be growing in a place we cannot yet see. God’s economy is not immediate, it is faithful.
He promises: “You will find it after many days.”
Not always quickly. Not always how we expect. But never without purpose.
This requires trust. Trust to release what we give. Trust to obey without visible results. Trust that God is working beneath the surface, even when everything appears still.
- Faith sows.
- God grows.
If you are in a season where your obedience feels unnoticed, remember this: nothing given to the Lord is ever wasted. Every act of faith, every quiet offering, every unseen sacrifice is held by Him.
It may not look like what you expected.
But it is still seed in the ground.
Takeaway & Reflection
God works beyond what we can see or measure.
- Faith often requires releasing without immediate return.
- What seems lost may be growing unseen.
- God is faithful to bring fruit in His time.
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Help me trust You when I cannot see results. Give me faith to continue sowing, serving, and obeying, even when it feels unseen. Remind me that nothing given to You is wasted, and that You are working in ways I cannot yet see.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
