Satisfied by His Mercy

Scripture

“Oh, satisfy us early with Your mercy, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days!” (Psalm 90:14)

Devotional

Psalm 90 is a prayer of Moses—a man who had seen both the frailty of human life and the faithfulness of God. Surrounded by the realities of mortality and the passage of time, Moses prayed not for more days, but for more satisfaction in God. His request was simple yet profound: “Satisfy us early with Your mercy.”

The mercy of God is the only thing that truly satisfies the soul. Everything else—success, pleasure, possessions—fades with time. But when we awaken to His steadfast love each morning, our hearts find joy that no circumstance can take away. To be satisfied “early” means to begin each day resting in His mercy—to let His grace define us before the world has a chance to distract us.

When we seek satisfaction in anything less than God, discontentment always follows. But when His mercy fills the first place in our hearts, it transforms how we see the rest of our days. Gratitude replaces grumbling. Joy replaces striving. And worship replaces weariness.

The prayer of Moses remains the cry of every believer’s heart: Lord, let Your mercy be my portion today. Satisfy me with Your love so that my life overflows with gladness in You.

Takeaway & Reflection

Only God’s mercy can truly satisfy the heart.

  • Start each day by remembering His steadfast love.
  • Satisfaction in God leads to joy that lasts.
  • A heart anchored in mercy rejoices in every season.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for Your unfailing mercy that renews with every morning. Satisfy me early with Your love so that I may rejoice and be glad all my days. Guard me from seeking fulfillment in what fades, and let my heart find its rest in You alone.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
