Scripture
“Let them shout for joy and be glad, who favor my righteous cause; and let them say continually, ’Let the Lord be magnified, who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant.’” (Psalm 35:27)
Devotional
David’s song in this psalm is both a declaration and a prayer—a call to magnify the Lord who delights in the well-being of His servants. In times of opposition and struggle, David didn’t magnify his circumstances; he magnified his God. His confidence was not in his own strength or success, but in the truth that God takes pleasure in blessing and sustaining those who walk in His ways.
To magnify the Lord is to make His greatness known—to lift our eyes from the trial to the One who rules over it. When we give God glory in the midst of battle, our hearts align with heaven’s perspective. Joy begins to rise, not because life is easy, but because God is faithful.
The word prosperity here speaks of peace, wholeness, and divine favor—blessing that flows from right relationship with God. He delights to see His children flourish in faith, to see righteousness upheld, and to see His name honored through our lives.
When we favor the Lord’s righteous cause—when His purposes become our passion—He turns our prayers into praise and our faith into fruitfulness. May our hearts echo David’s declaration: “Let the Lord be magnified!”

- Joy grows when we lift His name higher than our circumstances.
- True prosperity is found in walking closely with Him.
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
I magnify Your name and rejoice in Your goodness. Thank You that You delight in the peace and growth of Your children. Help me to seek Your righteous cause above my own, and let my life bring You glory. May my joy be rooted not in success, but in Your steadfast love.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
