I Believe God

Scripture

“Therefore take heart, men, for I believe God that it will be just as it was told me.” (Acts 27:25, NKJV)

Devotional

The storm had stripped away all illusions of control. The ship was breaking apart. The crew had abandoned hope. For many days, neither sun nor stars appeared. It was not a passing inconvenience, it was a life-threatening crisis.

And in the middle of that darkness, Paul stood and said something simple, steady, and unshaken: “I believe God.”

He did not say, “I believe the storm will stop.”

He did not say, “I believe we will figure this out.”

He said, “I believe God.”

Paul’s confidence was not in circumstances, but in a promise. An angel had told him that no life would be lost, though the ship would be destroyed. The storm still raged. The waves still crashed. The vessel would still break apart. But Paul anchored his heart in what God had spoken.

Faith does not deny the storm. It declares trust in the One who rules over it.

Notice something else: Paul’s faith steadied others. When everyone else despaired, one man’s confidence in God became a source of courage. Faith, when expressed calmly and clearly, has a way of strengthening the fearful.

Sometimes obedience does not prevent the storm. Sometimes God allows the ship to break so that lives can be saved. But in every storm, the decisive question is not, “Will this pass?” but “Do I believe God?”

When circumstances contradict comfort, when outcomes seem uncertain, when the ship seems to be splintering, faith says, “It will be just as He said.”

The storm may not look like salvation.

The loss may not look like deliverance.

But God’s word never fails.

Takeaway & Reflection

Faith rests in God’s promise, even when the storm continues.

  • Believing God steadies the heart in crisis.
  • Circumstances do not cancel God’s word.
  • One faithful voice can strengthen many.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

When storms surround me and hope feels distant, help me say with confidence, “I believe God.” Anchor my heart in Your promises. Let my faith rest not in circumstances, but in Your unchanging word. And use my trust in You to steady others who are afraid.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
