His Yes Is in Christ

Scripture

“For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.” (2 Corinthians 1:20, NKJV)

Devotional

Sometimes life does not look the way we thought it would.

Plans change. Prayers seem unanswered. Circumstances move in directions we did not expect. And somewhere in the uncertainty, a question can quietly enter our hearts: Can I still trust God?

Paul answers by pointing us to Jesus. “For all the promises of God in Him are Yes.”

God’s faithfulness is not measured by whether our circumstances unfold according to our expectations. His faithfulness has already been demonstrated decisively in Christ.

Jesus is God’s great “Yes.”

In Him, God fulfilled promises spoken across generations. In Him, salvation was accomplished. In Him, sin was paid for, death was defeated, and eternal life was secured. Christ is living proof that God keeps His Word.

That does not mean every desire we have is a promise from God. Nor does it mean every promise in Scripture belongs individually to every believer without regard for its context. But everything God has truly promised is certain because the God who promised is faithful.

And that distinction matters when life becomes difficult.

Sometimes we think we are trusting a promise when we are actually trusting our expectation of how God should fulfill it.

We may believe He must answer in a particular way.

By a particular time.

With a particular outcome.

But faith does not dictate the manner of fulfillment. Faith trusts the One who made the promise.

When Abraham could not see how God would accomplish what He had said, God remained faithful.

When Israel waited generations for the promised Messiah, God remained faithful.

When Jesus lay in the tomb and everything appeared lost, God remained faithful.

And when we cannot see what He is doing, God remains faithful still.

Paul says that God’s “Yes” in Christ is followed by our “Amen.”

Amen means more than the conclusion of a prayer. It is an affirmation: It is true. So be it.

God says, “Yes, My Word is sure.”

Faith responds, “Amen. I believe You.”

Perhaps that is the response God desires from us when circumstances remain unresolved, not certainty about what will happen next, but certainty about who He is.

We may not know the outcome.

But we know Christ.

And in Him, we have every reason to trust the faithfulness of God.

Takeaway & Reflection

God’s promises are certain because God Himself is faithful.

  • Jesus Christ is the ultimate confirmation that God keeps His Word.
  • Faith trusts what God has actually promised without demanding our preferred timing or outcome.
  • When circumstances make God’s faithfulness difficult to see, we can look again to Christ.
  • God has spoken His “Yes” in Jesus; our response is a believing “Amen.”

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You that every promise You have made is trustworthy because You are faithful. When circumstances change or I cannot understand what You are doing, keep me from measuring Your faithfulness by what I can see. Teach me to look to Jesus, trust what You have spoken, and leave the timing and manner of fulfillment in Your hands. You have spoken Your “Yes” in Christ. May my heart answer with faith: Amen.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
