Christ Is Risen Indeed

Scripture

“But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.” (1 Corinthians 15:20, NKJV)

Devotional

Some in Corinth had begun questioning the resurrection of the dead. Paul responds with urgency because the resurrection is not a secondary doctrine, it is central to the Christian faith.

If Christ is not risen, faith collapses. Preaching becomes empty. Hope disappears. Sin remains undefeated. But Paul declares with confidence: “But now Christ is risen from the dead.”

This is not wishful thinking or spiritual symbolism. It is historical, victorious reality. Jesus truly rose bodily from the grave, conquering sin and death forever.

Paul calls Christ the “firstfruits.” In Israel, firstfruits were the first portion of the harvest, guaranteeing that more was coming. Christ’s resurrection is the assurance that death will not have the final word for those who belong to Him.

Because He lives, believers have living hope.

The resurrection changes everything:

  • suffering is temporary
  • death is defeated
  • labor in the Lord is not wasted
  • eternity is secure

Without the resurrection, Christianity becomes little more than moral instruction. But with the resurrection, every promise of God stands confirmed in Christ.

This truth steadies weary hearts. The same power that raised Jesus from the grave guarantees the future resurrection of His people. Believers do not merely hope for survival after death, they await resurrection life in Christ.

The empty tomb still speaks:

  • Sin has been paid for.
  • Death has been conquered.
  • Jesus reigns alive forevermore.

And because He rose, hope rises too.

Takeaway & Reflection

The resurrection of Christ secures the believer’s hope forever.

  • Christ’s resurrection is the foundation of Christian hope.
  • Death no longer has the final word.
  • Because Jesus lives, believers have eternal assurance.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the victory of Jesus Christ over sin and death. Help me live each day in the hope and confidence of the resurrection. When fear or discouragement rises, remind me that Christ is alive and that my future is secure in Him.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
