Always Abounding in the Work of the Lord

Scripture

“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.” (1 Corinthians 15:58, NKJV)

Devotional

Paul ends the great resurrection chapter with one powerful word: “Therefore.”

Because Christ is risen…
Because death is defeated…
Because eternity is secure…

Believers are called to stand firm.

The resurrection is not merely future hope, it is present motivation. Since Christ has conquered the grave, our lives now carry eternal significance. What is done for the Lord is never wasted.

Paul urges believers to be:

  • steadfast – faithful and consistent
  • immovable – not shaken by pressure or opposition
  • always abounding – overflowing in service to God

This kind of perseverance is only possible when we remember that our labor has eternal value.

Sometimes faithfulness feels unseen. Serving can become tiring. Obedience can feel repetitive. There are seasons when the fruit seems small and the effort feels costly.

But Paul reminds us: “Your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”

  • Nothing done for Christ is empty.
  • No prayer is wasted.
  • No act of obedience is forgotten.
  • No quiet service goes unnoticed by God.

The resurrection guarantees that what is done in Christ carries beyond this life into eternity. Because Jesus lives, even ordinary faithfulness matters eternally.

This verse calls weary believers to keep going.

  • Stay steadfast.
  • Stay faithful.
  • Keep serving.
  • Keep loving.
  • Keep obeying.

The risen Christ sees it all.

Takeaway & Reflection

Because Christ is risen, our labor for Him has eternal value.

  • Faithfulness matters, even when unseen.
  • The resurrection gives purpose to perseverance.
  • Nothing done for the Lord is ever wasted.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Strengthen me to remain steadfast and faithful in serving You. When I grow weary, remind me that my labor in You is never in vain. Help me abound in the work You have given me, with joy, endurance, and eternal perspective.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
