2 Corinthians, Nahum, & Jonah: Strength, Justice, and the Heart of God

We are currently in a 34-week Bible study journey through 2 Corinthians, Nahum, and Jonah; three books that reveal the character of God and call His people to trust Him, walk faithfully, and reflect His heart to others. Though each book comes from a different setting and speaks to different circumstances, together they show us a God who is strong in our weakness, just in His judgments, rich in mercy, and faithful to His people.

In 2 Corinthians, we see the power of God displayed through human weakness. Paul writes openly about suffering, comfort, ministry, generosity, reconciliation, and perseverance, reminding us that the Christian life is not built upon our own strength or sufficiency, but upon the grace and power of Christ. Through Paul’s deeply personal words, we are encouraged to live with sincerity, endure hardship faithfully, give generously, and remain wholeheartedly devoted to Christ.

In Nahum, we encounter the holiness and justice of God as judgment is pronounced against Nineveh. While its message is sobering, Nahum also brings comfort to God’s people by reminding us that evil will not prevail forever. The Lord is righteous in His judgments, sovereign over the nations, and a stronghold for those who trust in Him.

In Jonah, we see God’s extraordinary mercy toward both a reluctant prophet and a sinful city. Jonah’s story confronts us with questions of obedience, repentance, compassion, and the condition of our own hearts. Above all, it reveals a God who patiently pursues the wandering, responds to genuine repentance, and extends mercy far beyond the boundaries we might choose.

By spending focused time in these three books, we will see God’s strength meeting us in weakness, His justice confronting evil, and His mercy reaching those who are far from Him. Together, they invite us to trust His character more deeply and live with faithful, generous, and wholehearted devotion to Christ.

2 Corinthians – Week 4

What can we trust when suffering overwhelms us, plans change, and relationships become complicated? In 2 Corinthians 1, Paul points us repeatedly to the character of God: He comforts us, teaches us dependence, works through the prayers of His people, and remains faithful when circumstances are uncertain. Through it all, Jesus Christ remains the unchanging “Yes” behind every promise of God.

2 Corinthians – Week 3

Why would God place His greatest treasure in fragile, ordinary people? In 2 Corinthians 4:7, Paul shows us that our weakness is not an obstacle to God’s power. We are earthen vessels carrying the priceless treasure of Christ, so that when His power is displayed through our lives, the glory unmistakably belongs to Him.

2 Corinthians – Week 2

What happens to our suffering when we place it in the hands of the God of all comfort? In 2 Corinthians 1:3–4, Paul shows us that God meets us in our trouble with mercy, strength, and help. Then, in His grace, the comfort we receive becomes something we can carry into the lives of others.

2 Corinthians – Week 1

Can we still trust God when circumstances do not unfold the way we expected? In 2 Corinthians 1:20, Paul points us to Jesus Christ as the answer. Every promise of God finds its certainty in Him, giving us an unshakable foundation for trusting God even when we cannot yet see what He is doing.

Jude – Week 2

How can believers remain faithful when truth is distorted and compromise enters the church? Jude calls Christians to contend for the faith, recognize spiritual deception, remain firmly rooted in God’s Word, and compassionately help those who are drifting. Though Jude gives serious warnings, his message ends with tremendous hope: God is able to keep His people from stumbling and bring them safely into His presence with exceeding joy.

Jude – Week 1

After warning believers about deception, temptation, and the danger of wandering from the truth, Jude turns our attention to a powerful source of assurance: the God who is able to keep us. Jude 1:24 reminds us that while we are called to walk faithfully, our ultimate confidence rests not in our ability to hold onto God, but in His faithfulness to hold onto us.
